White WallsI walk around for one last time, with every empty room I pass another tear falls. Walls of white and soft tan carpet leading to the foot of a light pink door. I push it open and step inside, embraced by the smells of childhood, plastic toys, Crayola Crayons and purple playdough. I can almost see the small pink bed and the little girl with long brown curly hair and ivory skin playing with an old worn doll, and treasuring it as only a child can do. Another tear slips down my cheek and I turn back toward the hallway to escape the bitter sweet memory. It's not long before I am at yet another door, this one a pale blue. Spring to ComeExploring dull colorless skies of December.Spring to Come
I sit on my porch,
White paint chipping
I taste morning dew,
Cold and sweet
Pale green grass newly bathed
Surrounding me in its brisk smell
White birch trees,
Stripped of there colorful gowns
A chilling breeze caresses
I rest against rough paneling
Such a dreary scene.
